Description
Robust smithsonite crystals have been covered by layers of quartz and hemimorphite in this piece. The smithsonite has a pale blue color with fairly large botryoidal structures. The bubbles have been coated with a fine layer of druzy quartz followed by hemimorphite. The crystals have good luster and sparkle nicely. This mine never produced much material for collectors and specimens had to be snuck out by miners. Some fluorescence - appears closer to pale red in person, although the camera interpreted it as yellowish for whatever reason. A beautiful piece from this rare locale!
