Description

This specimen features stepped, rhombic dolomite with siderite(?), quartz, calcite, and a little pyrite. I’m not quite sure what the brownish mineral is. It’s got a velvety texture and formed flattened botryoidal crystals. Siderite was my best guess, but I am honestly not sure. Whatever it is is a rare association as I have had over a dozen of these and looked up every picture I could find from this location and I have seen nothing like it. The dolomite is arranged in a very complex geometric formation all the way down to the smallest scale. The macro photo shows the faces that appear to be flat are actually intricately textured with micro-stepping all over. There are occasional flattened calcite rhombs and quartz scattered around the piece. This is a very large crystal for the species! An aesthetic and highly detailed specimen! Releasing this one from my personal collection.

Additional notes

Fluorescence notes
The calcite rhombs weakly fluoresce red, and there is partial red fluorescence in the dolomite
